The Irrevocable fact that God is Good

You have a GOOD GOD on your side

As a believer, when you’re constantly battling the ups and downs of life, you may come to a state of confusion and question your faith. Is God still here?

Is he listening to me?

Why is he allowing this to happen to me?

Is he really for me?

These are a few questions that may run across your mind during your difficult seasons. Honestly, they are pretty valid questions. If we don’t take the time to ask those questions, we’ll never gain clarity on who God is to us. While there are many layers to those raging questions that flood your mind during trials, today we are going to focus on one key component that will change your entire mindset. We’re focusing on the irrevocable fact that God IS GOOD. You have a good God on your side!

The Goodness of God

God is good. Ive heard that statement many times in my life, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized the weight of those words.

It seems like an obvious statement. I mean, obviously he isn’t bad, so he must be good. It wasn’t until I experienced God’s goodness in the darkest time of my life that I fully grasped the meaning of God being good.

I like to visualize everything that’s good. The fresh, cool air in the morning, the laughter of a newborn baby, the miracle of life, the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread, a stoplight that turns green before I even get there, the love I experience with my family—these are all very good things for me. I like to imagine that God is filled with all of those things.

It may seem silly, but it’s really helped me understand that everything about God is GOOD.

We must remember that God is eternal; He is the beginning and the end. John 1:1 tells us, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:3 says, "All things were made by him". Immediately, this tells me that God is the creator of Goodness. He sets the standard for what Goodness is in the first place!

And if we dive into the beginning of the word, back in Genesis, we see that God created Goodness.

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” Genesis 1:3-4

God is the creator of goodness! In this verse, we see what God calls good. He says that the light was good. FYI, this light isn’t the sun; that wasn’t made until the fourth day. This is the light of the world.

Circling back to the gospel of John, we see that John the Baptist was sent to bear witness to the light! This light “was the true Light, which lightieth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9

My dear friends, please know,

Jesus is the light

The light is good

God is good!

He’s working it for your GOOD

Now that we know that God is good, it’s time to realize that God is good to you. Honestly, this was something I struggled with until recently. I had an understanding that God was good; I just wasn’t sure if that goodness was for me too. This wasn’t something I openly talked about; I don’t think I was aware that I felt that way until I dug deep into learning about God. It was more of an unconscious thought in my head that God’s goodness wasn’t for me. If you’re struggling with the same issue, please keep reading. I really want to help you break that lie from your mind.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

God is taking every thing in your life and working it for your good. It may feel bad right now, but you have to know that he will work it for your good.

I think one of the best stories of God working destruction for someone's good is the story of Joseph.

“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Genesis 39:21

The prison guard trusted Joseph so much that he put him in charge of all the prisoners! Next thing you know, Joseph is interpreting dreams and ends up working with Pharaoh in the palace. He becomes the Governor of Egypt and helps the country prepare for a time of famine.

I really encourage you to read Joseph's story so you can fully grasp how God will take the ugliest of situations and turn them for your good. One second, your loved ones are betraying you, and in the next second, you’re positioned in a seat of authority.

God will work everything out for your good. Trust him!

Trust in his goodness

It may take you some time to eliminate those negative thoughts that race through your mind when it comes to the plans God has for you. But once you get the assurance that God is good and good for you in your mind, you will be an unstable force. Every step you take will be confident because you know who holds the key to your future, and that future is so bright. Please know that God is good to you.

We’ll be praying for you on your journey.

We love you,

Crown of Favor Family
